A proper drywall installation starts well before the first screw. We measure every wall and ceiling, plan the sheet layout to cut down on butt joints, and order 8, 10 and 12 foot board so long walls get fewer seams.
Delivery is stocked room by room, and floors, windows and stair treads are protected before work starts. Then we hang, fasten, tape, apply three coats of compound, sand with dust extraction and vacuum the site.

Most of the price gap between two drywall quotes hides in the board. We name the product on paper, usually CGC Sheetrock or CertainTeed, so you can compare like for like.
Regular 1/2 in. board is right for most walls on 16 in. centres. On ceilings framed 24 in. on centre we switch to 5/8 in. or a sag-resistant ceiling board so it stays flat for decades.
Bathrooms, laundry rooms and below-grade walls get moisture and mould resistant board such as Sheetrock Mold Tough. Inside tub and shower surrounds we install cement board like Durock, because no gypsum board belongs behind tile in a wet zone.
Type X is 5/8 in. board with glass fibres that holds together longer in a fire. We use it on garage separations, furnace rooms, under stairs and on shared walls in semis and duplexes.

The Gypsum Association GA-214 standard defines six finish levels. Knowing them is the easiest way to compare quotes fairly.

It depends on how sound the plaster is. Firm plaster can be boarded over with 1/4 in. or 3/8 in. drywall, which saves demolition dust but adds depth at door and window trim.

Usually 24 hours after final sanding, once the compound is fully dry. Prime first with a quality drywall primer so the joints and board absorb paint evenly.
Yes. Offcuts and packaging are removed as we go, and demolition waste can be included in the quote. Clean gypsum scrap is kept separate where recycling is available.
