Permits for every hamlet in the township come from the Township of South Frontenac building department at the municipal office in Sydenham. Additions, garage conversions and cottage upgrades to year-round use generally need one.
North of Sydenham the land rises onto the granite of the Canadian Shield, so many properties sit on rock with private wells and septic systems. That shapes where additions can go and how board gets delivered.

Logistics
How Board Gets to Rural South Frontenac Properties
When a board truck cannot fit down a winding private lane, sheets are dropped at the road and we carry them in. There is no drywall supply house nearby, so we bring extra material and plan the job to avoid runs back to Kingston.
On properties without running water, we bring water for mixing compound. Contractors who have worked out here recognise all of this, and we plan for it so you do not have to.
